Sarah Flynn: From Christ the King to top-of-the-class Medical Student

After attending Christ the King Sixth Form College, studious Sarah Flynn is now well on her way to becoming a Junior Doctor, with dreams of working in Emergency Medicine in the future.

She told our Alumni Team that the proudest moment of her medical career so far is “scoring in the top of [her] year’s cohort of over four hundred other student in the formative exams.” With result like that, we’re sure Sarah will make a valuable asset to the emergency medical services when she graduates in 2020.

Sarah will have to study and work extremely hard for over six years in a high pressure environment, but our former student is prepared to make the commitment. We asked her if she had any advice for other Christ the King Sixth Form College who want to follow a similar career path, and her answer was very encouraging.

“If your job is doing something you enjoy,” she said, “then you will never work a day in your life.”

Her positive attitude is something she attributes partly to her experiences studying at College. “My fondest memories include the people I met, and I received so much support from my teachers,” she said.

“I am hoping to specialise in emergency medicine. I am particularly interested in army and front-line medic work.”

To become a Front Line Medic, or a an Army Combat Medic, Sarah will need to complete basic army training before continuing with advanced training to learn the necessary emergency medical skills. Not only this, but she will need to be prepared to work in the most challenging and extreme conditions, something we have no doubt that Sarah will excel in.
